Fire retardant skirting

Types of Fire-Retardant Screening

1. Metal Mesh Screens (Best for Fire Protection)

• Made from galvanized or stainless steel with small openings (⅛-inch or smaller).

• Prevents embers from entering and igniting flammable materials.

• Complies with fire safety codes like Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) standards.

2. Fire-Resistant Skirting Panels

• Made from cement board, metal, or other non-combustible materials.

• More durable than mesh and provides additional insulation.

3. Intumescent-Coated Screens

• Special coatings that expand when exposed to heat, sealing off gaps.

• Used in high-risk fire zones.

Installation Tips

• Ensure proper ventilation to prevent moisture buildup.

• Securely attach the screening to avoid gaps where embers or small animals could enter.

• Check local building codes, as fire-resistant skirting may be required in wildfire-prone areas.
